What is this RED TOMATOES CROSSWALK filmmaking challenge for me?
by Elena Gorsheneva
I was going to take the 15 weeks Digital Filmmaking course at Digital Film Academy.

In the beginning I was driven by the naïve dream of finding a place - a job and people - just like I had in Russia. I arrived to this country in 2006 and this needs to be taken into consideration. And so I found the Digital Film Academy and began to study exactly with that goal in mind.
They told me that my project is too ambitious. For me it was then quite impossible to understand why a simple wish to find my habitual environments here looks so ambitious. Now I see that Frank F. Baum was absolutely right. This country is beautiful, but “there is no place like home”.
Why did I prefer DFA?
I found DFA webpage doing Google search. Then I had a conversation with its director, Elena Primost. Many things were said there, but really I decided to take these classes after Elena has shown me her own first short film, Pet Psychology, which she wrote, produced, directed and did most of the camera work for while being a student at Digital Film Academy. This movie is irresistibly funny. Do you like the story and the way she told it? I like it very much.
I met many interesting, highly professional and talented people at DFA. In the following posts I will talk about them. Especially I want to say THANK YOU to Elena Primost and Patrick DiRenna. They helped me with this movie from beginning to end.
Right now I’m beginning to post a series of the short articles to summarize my one year long experience at the filmmaking lab while making this short film.
